The SBA boys had their season come to an with a 60-48 loss in overtime in a District 5B semi-final game against Sully Buttes at Onida on Thursday, March 1. The Crusaders knotted the score at 43 to send the game into OT but couldn't carry the momentum to a win. Joel Pedersen led the Crusaders with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Titus Clark scored 11 and pulled down 13 rebounds and also 4 assists. Cole McClain also had 4 assists for the Crusaders. Jordan Lamb led the Chargers with 22 points and Conner Uhlir added 21. SBA finishes the season at 11-9 while the 18-3 Chargers advance to the district final on Friday, March 2 in Miller.

Boys Defeat Patriots to Finish Regular Season
The SBA boys topped the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots 63-53 on Friday, February 24 at the SBA gym. Cole McClain led the team with 24 points and 7 assists while Joel Pedersen scored 17 and added 9 rebounds. Brian LaDue added 11 points, Titus Clark scored 8 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, and Justin Rake had 7 assists and 2 steals. Trent Hofer led the Patriots with 21 points and Garrett Masat added 20. The win puts the boys in a tie for 3rd place in the regular season 281 Conference race. The Crusaders finish the regular season at 11-8 and 4-3 in the conference while H-T drops to 12-8 and 4-3. The SBA boys, the #3 seed, are scheduled to travel to Onida to take on #2 Sully Buttes in the semi-finals of the District 5B tournament.

SBA Girls Drop District Semi-Final
The season came to an end for the SBA Lady Crusaders on Tuesday, February 21 with a 53-21 loss to Sully Buttes in a District 5 semi-final game in Onida. Shanna Moreland led the team with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Kalli Quicke added 8 rebounds. Tricia Wilken was not able to play due to health issues. The ladies finish the season at 11-9. The 19-2 Lady Chargers advance to the district final to take on Highmore-Harrold.

Girls Win in District 5B
The SBA girls came away with a 57-50 victory over Faulkton in the play-in game for District 5B. Tricia Wilken led the Lady Crusaders with 20 points and 8 rebounds. She was 12-13 from the free throw line. Three other players scored in double figures. Shanna Moreland scored 12 points to go with 10 rebounds, and Bethany LaDue and Kalli Quicke added 11 and 10 points respectively. Cortney Hardie led the Lady Trojans with 20 points. SBA is now 11-8 while Faulkton finishes the season at 2-17. SBA now heads to Onida to take on Sully Buttes in a District 5 semi-final game on Tuesday, February 21. Game time is 7:00 P.M.

Warbirds Upend SBA Boys
Wolsey-Wessington defeated the SBA boys 60-54 in a 281 Conference game on Friday, February 17. Titus Clark led the Crusaders with 14 points and 15 rebounds while Cole McClain added 14 points and 4 assists. Justin Rake led in assists with 5. Jalen Boomsma led the Warbirds with 22 points. Dakota Christian Defeats SBA Girls
The SBA girls dropped a 53-44 decision to Dakota Christian on Thursday, February 16. Tricia Wilken led the Lady Crusaders with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Shanna Moreland had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals while Katie Wilken led the team with 3 assists. Sara De Waard led Dakota Christian with 19 points. Dakota Christian improves to 7-13 with the win while SBA drops to 10-8 to finish the regular season. Teams Drop Contests at Sully Buttes
The SBA girls and boys teams were both defeated in Onida Tuesday evening, February 14, losing to Sully Buttes. The girls lost by a score of 49-37. Shanna Moreland led the ladies with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Kalli Quicke added 12 points and four assists while Tricia Wilken scored 10 points. Karlea Stahl led the Lady Chargers with 13 points. The SBA girls are now 10-7 on the season while Sully Buttes improves to 17-2. The Lady Crusaders next take on Dakota Christian at the SBA gym on Thursday, February 16.

Girls and Boys Defeat Golden Eagles at Home
The SBA girls and boys teams both improved to 10-6 for the season with victories over Mitchell Christian at the SBA gym on Monday, February 6. The girls defeated the Lady Golden Eagles 56-47. Shanna Moreland led the ladies with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kalli Quicke added 14 points and dished out 9 assists while Tricia Wilken had 15 points and 3 steals. Bethany LaDue led the team in rebounds with 13. The Lady Golden Eagles, who drop to 7-10 on the season, were led by Katelyn and Khiree Held with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Highmore-Harrold Results
The SBA boys improved to 9-6 on the season with a 71-40 victory over Highmore-Harrold at Highmore on Tuesday, January 31. Cole McClain led the Crusaders with 24 points and 5 assists while Joel Pedersen added 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Crusaders shot 50% as a team and had 16 assists. Highmore-Harrold was led by Josiah Fawcett with 14 points and Benson Kleinschmidt added 10. The Pirates drop to 3-10 on the year.

The SBA girls defeated Aberdeen Christian 61-42 on Friday, January 27 at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Bethany LaDue and Kalli Quicke led the Lady Crusaders with 15 points apiece while Shanna Moreland and Katie Wilken added 10 each. Moreland pulled down 10 rebounds and Tricia Wilken and LaDue each had 4 assists. The ladies move to 9-4 on the year and will travel to play Highmore-Harrold in Highmore on Tuesday, January 31.

Boys and Girls Finish 4th In 281 Tournament
The SBA boys and girls teams both lost close games in the 3rd place games of the the 281 Tournament on Thursday, January 19 at the Huron Arena. The girls lost to James Valley Christian 39-37. Kalli Quicke led the Crusaders with 12 points and 4 assists while Shanna Moreland added 10 points. Katie Wilken, Bethany LaDue and Tricia Wilken each had 6 rebounds. Sarah Wedel led the Lady Vikings with 22 points. The Lady Crusaders get back into regular season action with a 7-4 record.

Boys Win Tight One in 1st Round of 281
The SBA boys won a 58-54 overtime decision over Wessington Springs in the first round of the 281 Tournament on Saturday, January 14. After the score was knotted at 49-49 at the end of regulation the Crusaders scored the first five points in OT and finished with the win. Joel Pedersen had 15 points and 16 rebounds while Brian LaDue also scored 15 points. Cole McClain had 11 points and 4 assists and Titus Clark pulled down 13 rebounds. Justin Rake had a nice all-around game with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Gus Gran led the Spartans with 28 points. The SBA boys are now 8-2 on the season while Wessington Springs drops to 4-4. The #4 seeded Crusaders will now take on #1 James Valley Christian on Tuesday, January 17 in the late game. Game time is approximately 8:00.

The SBA girls improved to 6-2 on the season with a 51-38 win over district 5 opponent Lower Brule in the SBA gym on Tuesday, January 10. Kalli Quicke scored 20 points on the night while Bethany LaDue scored 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Tricia Wilken chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Paige Grooms scored 10 points for the Lady Sioux, who dropped to 3-3. The ladies will next play Wolsey-Wessington in the first round of the 281 tournament in Wolsey on Friday, January 13.
