Results in Aberdeen

The SBA girls defeated Aberdeen Christian 61-42 on Friday, January 27 at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Bethany LaDue and Kalli Quicke led the Lady Crusaders with 15 points apiece while Shanna Moreland and Katie Wilken added 10 each. Moreland pulled down 10 rebounds and Tricia Wilken and LaDue each had 4 assists. The ladies move to 9-4 on the year and will travel to play Highmore-Harrold in Highmore on Tuesday, January 31.

The SBA boys have now lost four games in a row, dropping a 55-49 contest to Aberdeen Christian. Brian LaDue had 11 points and Joel Pedersen and Cole McClain added 10 each. Titus Clark pulled down 14 rebounds while McClain had 4 assists. The boys, now 8-6, also play in Highmore next Tuesday. In addition to box scores, cumulative season stats are posted below.

Girls Win at Home, Boys Lose in White Lake

The SBA girls improved to 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play with a 60-29 win over Wolsey-Wessington at SBA on Tuesday, January 24. Bethany LaDue led the ladies with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Shanna Moreland also had 15 points and 8 rebounds while Kalli Quicke added 12 points and a game high 7 steals. The Lady Warbirds drop to 3-8 on the year.

The boys lost to Kimball/White Lake in White Lake by a score of 54-33. Titus Clark pulled down 13 rebounds in the contest. With the loss the boys drop to 8-5 on the season. The WildKats are now 8-3. Both girls and boys teams play Aberdeen Christian in Aberdeen on Friday, January 27.

Boys and Girls Finish 4th In 281 Tournament

The SBA boys and girls teams both lost close games in the 3rd place games of the the 281 Tournament on Thursday, January 19 at the Huron Arena. The girls lost to James Valley Christian 39-37. Kalli Quicke led the Crusaders with 12 points and 4 assists while Shanna Moreland added 10 points. Katie Wilken, Bethany LaDue and Tricia Wilken each had 6 rebounds. Sarah Wedel led the Lady Vikings with 22 points. The Lady Crusaders get back into regular season action with a 7-4 record.

The boys dropped a 66-55 decision in overtime. Joel Pedersen had 23 points and 9 rebounds, Brian LaDue and Cole McClain each added 12 points, and Titus Clark pulled down 11 rebounds. The 8-4 Crusaders travel to White Lake on Tuesday, January 24 to take on Kimball/White Lake. The ladies will host Wolsey-Wessington, also on Tuesday.

SBA Boys Lose Semi-Final in 281 Tourney

The SBA boys lost to James Valley 70-48 in one semi-final of the 281 tournament on Tuesday, January 17. Joel Pedersen led the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Brian LaDue added 10 points and 6 boards. The Crusaders, now 8-3, will play Hitchcock-Tulare in the third place game at approximately 4:30 on Thursday, January 19.

SBA Girls Drop Semi-Final in 281 Tourney

The SBA girls lost their semi-final game against the second seeded Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots by a score of 58-29 on Monday, January 16. Bethany LaDue scored 10 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for SBA. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeated James Valley 41-34 in the other semi-final game, so the Lady Crusaders will play James Valley in the third place game at approximately 3:00 on Thursday, January 19. Boys Win Tight One in 1st Round of 281

The SBA boys won a 58-54 overtime decision over Wessington Springs in the first round of the 281 Tournament on Saturday, January 14. After the score was knotted at 49-49 at the end of regulation the Crusaders scored the first five points in OT and finished with the win. Joel Pedersen had 15 points and 16 rebounds while Brian LaDue also scored 15 points. Cole McClain had 11 points and 4 assists and Titus Clark pulled down 13 rebounds. Justin Rake had a nice all-around game with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Gus Gran led the Spartans with 28 points. The SBA boys are now 8-2 on the season while Wessington Springs drops to 4-4. The #4 seeded Crusaders will now take on #1 James Valley Christian on Tuesday, January 17 in the late game. Game time is approximately 8:00.

In other first round action, third seeded Hitchcock-Tulare defeated #6 Woonsocket/Sanborn Central by a score of 68-57. Second seed Wolsey-Wessington topped #7 Highmore-Harrold 49-22 and #1 James Valley beat #8 Iroquois 57-22.

The SBA girls defeated Wolsey-Wessington 64-39 in the first round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Friday, January 13. Shanna Moreland had 22 points and 8 rebounds while Kalli Quicke had 21 points and 4 assists. Tricia Wilken and Bethany LaDue dished out 7 and 6 assists respectively. Bridgett Clark scored 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the Lady Warbirds. The third seeded Lady Crusaders, now 7-2, will take on #2 seed Hitchcock-Tulare, a 66-36 winner over Wessington Springs. Game time will be Monday, January 16 in the Huron Arena at approximately 6:30. In other first round games, top seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeated Iroquois 62-6 while #4 James Valley topped #5 Highmore-Harrold 60-46.

I could not find a link to the tournament games on the web site. The SBA boys took a 73-26 victory at Iroquois on Thursday, January 12. Jaden Brockel led the boys with 13 points and Cole McClain and Brian LaDue added 12 and 10 respectively. Nathan Barnes and Malachi Clark each pulled down 7 rebounds. The Crusaders are now 7-2 overall and 2-2 in regular season conference play. The SBA boys next play Wessington Springs at the 281 Tournament in Wolsey on Saturday, January 14. Game time will be approximately 5:30.

Girls and Boys Win At Home - Lower Brule

The SBA girls improved to 6-2 on the season with a 51-38 win over district 5 opponent Lower Brule in the SBA gym on Tuesday, January 10. Kalli Quicke scored 20 points on the night while Bethany LaDue scored 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Tricia Wilken chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Paige Grooms scored 10 points for the Lady Sioux, who dropped to 3-3. The ladies will next play Wolsey-Wessington in the first round of the 281 tournament in Wolsey on Friday, January 13.

The boys led from start to finish in a 71-59 victory over the Sioux and improved to 6-2 on the year. Joel Pedersen scored 21 points and hauled in 18 rebounds while Cole McClain added 20 points and 5 assists. Titus Clark scored 16 points and pulled in 14 rebounds. Lower Brule was led by Reuben Estes with 17 points and 5 assists. The Sioux are now 6-3. Next up for the SBA boys is a trip to Iroquois on Thursday, January 12.

The SBA boys improved their record to 5-2 with a 69-36 win at Plankinton on Saturday, January 7. Joel Pedersen scored 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds while Brian LaDue and Cole McClain each scored 17. Titus Clark and Brian LaDue each had 5 assists. Kellam Karst led the 1-9 Pirates with 15 points.

The SBA girls lost a tight one in overtime by a score of 47-42. Shanna Moreland had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kalli Quicke scored 12 points, dished out 5 assists and had 9 steals. The Lady Crusaders are now 5-2 on the season while Plankinton improves to 2-7.

The SBA girls defeated Wessington Springs 50-43 in Wessington Springs on Thursday, January 5. With the win they improve to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in 281 Conference play. Bethany LaDue had 13 points and 7 rebounds and Shanna Moreland scored 11 points to go with 10 rebounds. Katie Wilken dished out 6 assists.

The SBA boys lost a close 49-47 decision to the Spartans. Cole McClain had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Joel Pedersen scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Titus Clark led the team with 15 rebounds. The boys are now 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the 281 Conference.
